Spring is here!
The weather is getting warmer (the increase in temperature from August to September is the largest monthly jump of the year for Brisbane).
And that means more of us will be using our pools again.
While many of us enjoy the warmth, our pools also feel the heat.
And that means greater demand for pool chemicals and equipment to maintain a clean and healthy pool.
Here are our Four Spring Tips to prepare your pool for the season ahead and for the kids to enjoy these school holidays.
- Chemically clean your filtration system
It’s best to start the season with a clean filtration system that can withstand the increased pool use. Chemically cleaning your filtration system can be done at home and takes one to two days. - Increase your filtering time
It’s important your pool thoroughly circulates all the necessary chemicals to clean the water. Increase the use of your filter system to eight to 10 hours per day. Your pool needs enough time to circulate chemicals to avoid cloudy issues or algae.
- Turn up chlorine production
Often, pool owners get caught out with too little chlorine in the pool. That’s because chlorine consumption increases the warmer the water becomes. For every five- degree increase in water temperature, pools require 50 per cent more chlorine.
And with the filter operating for longer, extra chlorine is needed to kill bacteria in the water. The Queensland heat can be extreme throughout summer so being prepared will help pool owners stay ahead.
Easy Pool customers are great at regularly testing their pool water. We recommend doing a test at least once per month through pool season. In addition to this, five to 10 minutes of pool maintenance each week will help prevent any major issues.
