Smart Sticks are 225-gram trichlor sticks containing Smart Guard Chlorine Protector. Smart Sticks are totally soluble with no binders and, because of the Smart Guard technology, last up to twice as long as ordinary trichlor sticks or tablets. Designed for weekly skimmer application, they dissolve much slower than regular trichlor sticks when the pump is off. Smart Sticks are stabilised, so chlorine is not lost to the UV rays of the sun. The fact that they stop dissolving when the pump is off means that the equipment and vinyl liners are not subjected to a “hot spot” of heavily chlorinated and acidic water when the pump is turned on after a period of rest.
To use Smart Sticks:
Smart Sticks are designed exclusively for skimmer application. Do not use in metal skimmers or in soak chlorinators or floaters. If you have multiple skimmers, divide sticks equally among them.
- Balance and stabilise the pool according to ALEX recommendations.
- To maintain 1.5 – 3.0 ppm free chlorine residual, add 1 stick per 20,000 litres to the skimmer.
- Run pump 8 – 12 hours per day for best results. Do not turn pump off for more than 16 hour intervals in pools with bleachable surfaces.
- Replenish weekly or as often as necessary to maintain a presence of sticks in the skimmer continuously. Do not wait until sticks have completely dissolved to replace.
