Trichloro-s-triazinetrione and dichloro-s-triazinetrione are very stable compounds in storage. These products do not lose any significant amounts of chlorine when stored under normal storage conditions. These conditions would include being protected from the elements by being in a sheltered area and in a closed container. The temperature of the area should not exceed 32°C. The relative humidity should be below 90%. Losses of available chlorine content of less than 1% per month have been reported for materials held at 90% Relative Humidity and temperatures ranging from 55° to 60°C. Storage of trichlor and dichlor products from one pool season to the next is very easy in most parts of Australia with temperatures being well below 32°C during the months of storage. Any loss of available chlorine content would be extremely small.

Bromochlorodimethylhydantoin (BCDMH) is also a very stable compound in storage. A sample held for 32 years in a glass jar on a shelf in a laboratory showed an insignificant change in its halogen content. The stability of this compound is affected by storage conditions also. The same criteria should be applied in storage of BCDMH products. The storage of pool chemicals from one season to the next is easy and advisable in the case of dichlor, trichlor, and BCDMH products. Be sure that any tablets or sticks which might be removed from a feeder or skimmer are thoroughly air dried before placing them into a container. Do not place partially dissolved tablets or sticks into the same container with unused product. If at all possible, allow sticks or tablets to completely dissolve. It might be possible to allow the tablets or sticks to be in a floater during the winter. This floater could give a small residual to the pool all winter. Be cautious in use of a floater that it would not get against the cover or sides of the pool as damage to the cover or the pool surface could occur.
